Jan 2017 - Further to recent and previous success in both the ND Awards and the Monochrome awards I am pleased to announce that I have been awarded two Honourable Mentions in the 2016 Monochrome Awards for "Dunstanburgh Castle (B/W)" and "Haunted Coast" both in the Amateur Landscape category.

Dec 2016 - I'm pleased to announce that for the second year running I have been awarded an Honourable Mention in the 2016 ND Awards, a prestigious international photography contest for "Dunstanburgh Castle". Category Non-Professional/Nature/Landscapes.

March 2016 - Myanmar (Burma) page now added under Galleries. A complete gallery dedicated to this wonderful country and its special people.

February 2016 - Pleased to announce two awards recently; I was awarded Honourable Mentions for "Venice 9" in the ND Magazine & Awards (Fine Art Landscape category) and for "Venice 2" in the Monochrome Awards 2015. These are recognised international awards and I am honoured to have been considered amongst the finalists.

10th March 2015; It's taken a while but my Cuba page is up and running so please click over to take a look. These are the highlights but there is still loads more work that is yet to be displayed so watch this space for more additions. 1st November 2014; After another successful Lloyds Autumn Art exhibition I just wanted to write a short note to those who like my work and view my website. After a quiet year (photographically) I soon hope to produce more material which I've had building up for some time. For fans of my Cuba work I have much more to release together with my Burma work from a year ago. Both of these should have their own dedicated pages here. I also have some brilliant images from Venice and lots of new ideas which will gradually be highlighted here. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter for up to date news and releases!

25th January 2014; SURPLUS STOCK SALE NOW ON!! Now that I am no longer exhibiting with Nucleus I have a great deal of surplus stock that I need to sell in order to make more room! As a result I have a number of both mounted and framed photographs that I am selling at reduced prices. 18th January 2014; It is with some sadness that I announce that I will no longer be exhibiting at the Nucleus Galleries in Rochester & Maidstone. The decision is my own and has been made for several reasons and I would like to thank my customers and the team at Nucleus for their support these last few years. I will however continue to exhibit throughout the year and am looking into ways of expanding my "on line" presence. Watch this space for further announcements or follow me on twitter @RMBackPhoto . Customers who enjoyed my Cuban work will be pleased to know I have many more shots that have yet to be released so if you are interested and have any specific requests or commissions I can raid my files to see if I can bespoke something for you. I haven't even begun to work on shots from my recent Burma trip yet so again watch this space for further additions and announcements.

November 2013; Awarded a Commendation for "Reflections of 2012" in the 2013 Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards.

30th October 2012; I am honoured to announce that I have been awarded the Miller Prize winning the Lloyds Art Exhibition 2012. This is the first time in the exhibitions forty nine year history that the award has been given to a photographer.

3rd February 2012;"ORCHHA BOY", pictured below, announced runner up in the Wanderlust Travel Photo of the Year at Destinations Travel Show in Earls Court. The results were published in The Independent on Saturday 4th and are?currently showcased in the new edition of Wanderlust magazine.

19th September 2011 - "RIGHT TO ROAM" - Announced finalist of BBC's Countryfile 2011 Photographic Competition!

I am delighted to announce that my image of Hole in the Wall on Helvellyn in Cumbria's Lake District is a finalist in this years BBC's Countryfile Photographic Competition. The image, the only monochrome finalist out of twelve overall finalists is the winner of the Landscape category beating over 55,000 entries overall. This years judges; John Craven, Chris Packham and Janet Street Porter were unanimous in their decision.

This means "Right to Roam", pictured below, will be featured in the 2012 Countryfile calendar sold in aid of Children in Need. The overall "Best in Show" winner as voted for by the public together with the judges favourite will be announced on October 9th. Please note the phone lines have now closed so voting is complete.

18th JULY 2011- "RECULVER" ANNOUNCED WINNER OF THE PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY IN THE "WE LOVE KENT EXHIBITION" AT THE KENT COUNTY SHOW!! This piece will now be exhibited at Francis Illes in Rochester High St until July 27th.
